Don has had a hand in creating, building, and launching seven startups that have attracted $150 million in funding and created more than $1 billion in enterprise value. How has he done it? An eternal optimist, Don is a radical simplifier with a unique expertise in digital startups and digital product strategy.
Don joined West Monroe in 2019 when it acquired GoKart Labs, which he co-founded 10 years prior. He also spent 14 years in various executive roles with Capella Education Company, guiding it to become a publicly traded $400 million online academic institution.
He has a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management.
What makes Don different
Don brings more than business acumen to the table: He’s a singer/songwriter -- he had three songs hit the Billboard charts -- as well as a fishing enthusiast and an American history fanatic. And, as a former contestant on The Price Is Right, he has proven that he’s cool under pressure. He’s been married to his high school sweetheart for more than 20 years, and they live in Minneapolis with their three daughters and two border terriers.
Where Don makes an impact
After a successful career in the startup world, Don works to help others follow in his footsteps. A board member of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation and EdNorth, he supports education startups in Minnesota.
