Joseph translates a passion for data science and business strategy into tangible business value. He has founded or co-founded multiple machine learning and analytics firms. He guided one of those, a venture-capital backed eSports analytics platform startup, through to a successful acquisition by a NASDAQ-listed company.
As an Innovation Fellow with West Monroe, his focus is on applying machine learning to analytics, particularly natural language processing. He also applies his training as an economist to demand forecasting and other value problems.
His experience spans an array of public sector and private environments on projects ranging from corporate regulatory compliance documents to multi-billion-dollar litigation defense to tariff exemption requests with natural language processing. He has developed analyses for a variety of firms, including major sports promotion, pharmaceutical, and technology firms. For example, he advised the National Basketball Association on developing its official 2K League.
Having deployed machine-learning models within organizations, he understands the importance and nuances of delivering solutions tailored to the needs and capabilities of end users.
He joined West Monroe after serving as a senior data scientist and economist for the Office of Management and Budget, Executive Office of the President. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Brown University and a doctorate in business administration from Harvard Business School.
What makes Joseph different
He loves playing the piano, chess, and video games, as well as going on long hikes. His favorite travel destination is Fez, Morocco, which has an incredible stone medina. He is fluent in Japanese and conversational in Chinese.
