SmartAsset, a New York financial technology company, has released its sixth annual study on the Best Places to Retire in the United States. The company published a list of the top 10 best places to retire in Louisiana based on tax friendliness, number of doctors’ offices and recreation and social opportunities for seniors in each city.
The City of West Monroe ranked No. 3 in Louisiana as being one of the best places in the state to retire. Covington was ranked No. 1 and Mandeville was ranked No. 2.

Recently, the City of West Monroe was designated as a Louisiana Certified Retirement Community. The announcement was made by the Louisiana Office of Tourism. Criteria used to become a certified retirement community includes climate, demographics, tax structure, employment and volunteer opportunities.
