Applicant Backgrounds
The West Monroe Police Department does extensive background investigations on individuals who apply for employment with the police department. Applicants must pass an oral review board, psychological examination, criminal history checks, driver’s license checks, and a voice stress analysis test (lie detector test), among other things in order to be considered for employment.
Citizen Survey
In an effort to make sure the West Monroe Police Department is meeting the needs of the public and to look for ways to improve our services to the public, in 2004 the West Monroe Police Department began conducting Citizen Surveys. A random sample of citizens who have recently called the West Monroe Police Department for assistance or to report a crime are contacted and asked to participate in the survey.
In the survey the citizen is asked if the officer who took their complaint was courteous and acted in a professional manner. They are asked whether they were satisfied with the service they received, and also are given the chance to tell how the West Monroe Police Department could improve the service it provides.
